It's about time!

I've been waiting on technology like this since I was a little kid. I mean, it's not 3-D television, a flying car or even a rocket pack, but I'll take it.

...until the hoverboards come out.

Magical Mac

I'm not sick of this campaign yet. Honestly, I think it's getting more clever as time passes. I get excited when I hear the music and see it's a new one.

Apple's strategy is genius. Their approach, impeccable.

Strategy: Tout Mac's superiority in an approachable way. Mac hits this nail on the head every time. Their executions are perfect. I have yet to see a Mac ad that villianizes PCs or is overtly arrogant.

I applaud the strategist and brand managers who've monitored this brand. They used humor and smart, unthreatning wit to invite the public to investigate their products. They have kept a steady stream of new Mac vs. PC ads so not to bore people by keeping the same spots running. Important to brand as Mac is constantly innovating products, it'd be off-brand if their ads were'nt doing the same.

The packaging is neat, clean and simple...for every Mac product...Just like the products. The public knows what to expect from this brand, and for that I just can't think of anything negative to say about Mac.

Professor O'Keefe taught us that every interaction with a brand is either a positive or negative deposit into the consumer's mind. Apple takes such care to make sure that these interactions are not only positive, but pleasant.

So whats more, I don't want to say anything bad about Mac.

There was Blood.

There will Be Blood is on a whole nother level. I feel like that movie is the NFL of cinema and all the other movies I've enjoyed to date were either high school ball or at best college.

I just saw the movie about three days ago, I saw all the Oscar hype and wasn't buying it. But since in my industry "I'm supposed to know what the publics talking about," I decided to cross it off the list...after seeing this film I won't wait as long next time.

Even if I wanted to get bored at points in the movie, main actor Daniel Day Lewis' performance was amazing. Halfway through the movie he already had my very important vote of approval. (It makes the world go round, ask the mayor.)

The plot was ridiculous. Issues came up at points in this film that you never saw coming. My brain never got the chance to focus on one task at hand. It was this smart complexity that puts this movie two levels above the others.

Other films I've seen try to balance several plot lines and while those movies were enjoyable, they're grasping at straws compared to this one. In those movies, it seems that all was resolved with helicopter shootours,car chases and the so important kiss at the end.

My cinematic palette's on a whole nother level now.

Music upgrade.

The Teriyaki" Boyz. Or should I say Pharell? Whatever the combination is, this joint right here, "this joint right here!" is ridiculous.

This un-fruty-looped beat is needed right now. Im sick of this cookie cutter mess in hip-hop. I wish Soulja Boy would disappear. Bamma's garbage!...but I digress.

After getting put on to this joint, I did a lil bit of homework and found out the Teriyaki Boyz were discovered or introduced by Nigo of Bathing Apes. They also did one of the main songs on Tokyo Drift.

Not positive if they're signed to Star Trak, but if they are its a rap. That's the right branding move for these guys to make. They seem to be more 80-90's hip-hop style oriented as such, (without knowing Japanese) they seem to be bringing fun back to the game.

They're styling and the look of this video reminds me of the new rappers coming out who are a throwback to real hip-hop. Groups like The Cool Kids and Kidz in the Hall and the Teriyaki Boyz are the breath of fresh air needed in the game right now.

I miss substance and the lack of "My cars are shiny, my women are twerkin' and I shoot guns." That's play pimpin.

I need depth like this:
"I started out starvin/now they got me out here Brett Favrin'/ Tryna see if I still got it...I guess it's like a bike think about..." Andre 3000

Not:
"Yahhh! Yahhh! Yahhh!"

Everybody says they listen to everything...

There's a lot of main stream artists I really like. I mess with Red Hot Chili Peppers hard. Their style of music is so harmonious and melodic. I feel like they would've been even back in the 70's.

True, I might be partial to the basslines especially since I play the bass, but I know that's not it. They just do it right. I come across a lot of main stream songs that I just don't feel. But they balance all the elements perfectly.

Groovers. You just bob your head during the verse groovin', then the chorus hits and you're thrown into another zone of, of just...funk.

I just figured it out, they have soul.

Where I'm from

I'm from "The Area." The Washington DC Metropolitan Area. I'm not from DC, I'm from PG (Prince Georges) County Maryland. I hate to admit it, but where I'm from we just don't care. We do what we do, and dare somebody say something. We got our own music, style, businesses, cuisines even language. (You think I'm lunchin right? Thats how you feel young? Translation: You think I'm crazy huh? lol, You really think that?)

We mind our business and don't like strangers. Not that we're mean, we just do our own thing. If you're with it and we don't mind your presence, then sure you can join, otherwise, keep moving.

I know I sound brash, but I want you to understand my point of view moving forward. I'll sound arrogant. Not cause I'm unapproachable, but that's how we carry it though.

So as I'm paying homage to home, here's a word on our music.


The above clip is simply bananas. This is our music, Go-Go. Founded by the Godfather, Chuck Brown and his Soulsearchers in DC back in 1968. A lot of folks outside our area either hate go-go, never heard of it, or only know it cause of doin the butt by EU.

I argue that if I person unfamiliar with go-go knew what to look for, they'd mess with it. It's sometimes hard to catch the beat if your ear ain't used to it. So here's my explanation of it:

-Started in the 60's due to the anxiousness of the crowd during the lag time of the DJ when he had to switch records.
-Percussion heavy
-Utilizeses call and response to foster strong crowd participation.
-Often cover mainstream songs
-Local musicians *Every high school in DC and PG has at least 5 bands in it.
-I was in a band back when I was at Hampton *Mumbo Sauce founder...nabbit.

The clip is of Smoke from Northeast Groovers "smackin the gos" as we'd say back home.

I'll be real, I hate go-go that has too much going on. My lil bovas love that stuff with whistles and clappin and all that, I hate it. Let your creativity and musicianship speak for you...Like this:

Ima do what I feel like doing. I started a different blog, but wouldn't have been me. Yeah I'm brand new to blogging, but I think the purpose is to talk about what you want...so thats what Ima do.

I watch a lot of TV. Might be unhealthy, but thats what I do nabbit.
